Rheumatologists are physicians who specialise in the management of joint, muscle and soft tissue disorders. By analogy, they are much like a non-operating orthopaedic surgeon but specialising in autoinflammatory conditions.
Consider referrals to Medilaw for:
- Acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain (including occupational overuse syndrome and regional pain syndrome)
- Degenerative arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis)
- Viral infections causing widespread joint pain (eg Ross River virus)
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic (non-surgical) back pain
- Soft tissue complaints, eg bursitis, tendonitis (tendon inflammation), capsulitis (inflammation of a joint capsule)
- Tennis elbow
