Dr Peter Steadman gained his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1986. He undertook and completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1995 and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2000.
He has been appointed as an Associate Professor in Orthopaedics of the University of Queensland from March 2008. Dr Steadman is registered in Queensland and NSW and practises in orthopaedic surgery. His additional experience includes 10 months as a Visiting Fellow to the Mayo Clinic (USA).From 1998 to 2000, he was the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is currently in private practice in Brisbane, and a Visiting Specialist at both the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Children's Hospital. He has been the Bone and Joint Decade Chairman in Queensland and is a Senior Medical Officer with Queensland Health. He is a Federal Director of the Australian Orthopaedic Association's governing board and Secretary of the Queensland branch and the National Secretary of the Australian Sarcoma Group. Dr Steadman has presented on medical assessment issues at several legal seminars for the Queensland Law Society, LexisNexis Butterworths and the Australian Insurance Law Association. He has advised on the Queensland CTP legislation medical issues to Justice Thomas, and the Law Council of Australia on Comcare medical issues. On numerous occasions, Dr Steadman has been required to stand as an expert witness at court, presenting unbiased Evidenced based material evidence.
